Bulb Energy bailout to cost UK taxpayers 65bn

The taxpayer invoice for failed retail vitality provider Bulb has soared to £6.5bn, making it the biggest state bailout since Royal Financial institution of Scotland in 2008, based on official paperwork launched on Thursday.

Bulb was successfully nationalised after collapsing with 1.6mn clients in November final 12 months, after hovering gasoline and electrical energy costs uncovered the fast-growing firm’s failure to safe the vitality it had promised clients upfront.
